One State or Union Territory must be chosen
IBPS requires each candidate to apply for vacancies in only one State or Union Territory. The examination centre is normally linked to that choice.[1]
The official tables list 1,731 vacancies in Uttar Pradesh, 1,414 in Karnataka and 1,051 in Maharashtra. West Bengal lists 946, while Tamil Nadu lists 675.
These figures are indicative, not guaranteed final appointments. Participating banks report actual requirements before provisional allotment.
Graduation, computers and the local language all matter
A recognised graduation degree in any discipline is required by 21 August 2026. Applicants must hold the mark sheet or degree certificate when registering.
Computer literacy is also mandatory. The notification accepts a relevant certificate, diploma or degree, or prior study of computers or information technology.
Candidates must read, write, speak and understand the language selected for their State or Union Territory. IBPS can conduct a Local Language Proficiency Test before joining.[1]
Age is measured on 1 August
The normal age range is 20 to 28 years. The candidate must have been born between 2 August 1998 and 1 August 2006, inclusive.
The notice gives five years of upper-age relaxation to SC and ST candidates. OBC non-creamy-layer candidates receive three years, while eligible PwBD candidates receive ten years.
The process has preliminary and main examinations
The preliminary examination contains English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. It has 100 questions, 100 marks and a total duration of 60 minutes.
Shortlisted candidates then take the online main examination. Wrong answers in objective tests attract a penalty of one quarter of the assigned marks.[1]
Passing an examination does not itself create an appointment. Final provisional allotment depends on merit, preferences, reservation rules and the vacancies reported by participating banks.
Basic pay starts at ₹24,050
The notified basic-pay scale begins at ₹24,050 and rises through scheduled increments to ₹64,480. Allowances and benefits follow the rules of the allotted bank.
| Candidate group | Application charge |
|---|---|
| SC, ST, PwBD, ESM and DESM | ₹175 including GST |
| All other candidates | ₹850 including GST |
Bank transaction charges remain payable by the applicant. Fees already paid are not a reason to skip the final submission screen.
