Indian Army Agniveer Recruitment 2026 is still drawing strong search interest after the main online application window closed. Candidates are now looking for the Agniveer age limit 2026, CEE result, rally schedule, physical test, salary, documents and the next Indian Army Agniveer vacancy. The sections below separate the current 2026 recruitment cycle from any future intake and use the Indian Army notice, the Join Indian Army portal and Government of India releases for the figures below.

A PIB release confirmed registration from 13 February to 1 April 2026 through the Join Indian Army website.[1] The Army portal later displayed the June CEE schedule for the main Agniveer categories.[2]
Why “Agniveer Recruitment 2026” and “Recruiting Year 2027” both appear
The application and CEE took place in calendar year 2026. Army notices describe the intake as Recruiting Year 2027, and some Phase II rallies continue into 2027. A July Government release, for instance, scheduled certain male Agniveer rallies under ARO Raipur for January 2027.[3] This is why a search for Indian Army Agniveer Recruitment 2026 may lead to information about the CEE, results, rally call letters or the next application cycle.
Agniveer eligibility 2026: education and age
Eligibility is not the same for every Agniveer category. The Indian Army notification hosted by the Government of Telangana sets out the education and age conditions used for the 2026 application cycle.[4] The main requirements are summarised below.
| Category | Education requirement | Age in the 2026 notice |
|---|---|---|
| Agniveer General Duty (GD) | Class 10/Matric with 45% aggregate in five basic subjects and at least 33% in each of those subjects | 17½–22 years |
| Agniveer Technical | 10+2 Science with Physics, Maths and English and 50% aggregate, or specified NIOS/ITI/vocational/technical routes listed in the notification | 17½–22 years |
| Agniveer Clerk / Store Keeper Technical | 10+2 in any stream with 60% aggregate and at least 50% in each subject. A minimum of 50% in English and Maths/Accounts/Book Keeping is mandatory | 17½–22 years |
| Agniveer Tradesman, 10th pass | Class 10 pass with at least 33% in five basic subjects. No overall aggregate percentage is specified | 17½–22 years |
| Agniveer Tradesman, 8th pass | Class 8 pass with at least 33% in five basic subjects | 17½–22 years |
For that notification, the date-of-birth window was 1 July 2005 to 1 July 2009, both dates inclusive.[4] Future DOB cut-offs can change. Height also varies by region and category, so candidates should use the physical standards in their own ARO notification rather than a single number copied from a generic website.
Agniveer selection process: CEE comes first
The Army recruitment process has two broad phases. Phase I is the online Common Entrance Examination (CEE). Candidates who clear the required cut-off can then be called for the Phase II recruitment rally. The 2026 notice states that the objective CEE may contain 50 questions in one hour or 100 questions in two hours, depending on the category, and is offered in 13 languages. Clerk and Store Keeper Technical candidates also face a typing test, for which 30 words per minute in English is described as desirable.[4]
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Online application | Create the profile on Join Indian Army, choose the eligible category and pay the CEE fee |
| 2. Phase I: Online CEE | Computer-based objective examination. Qualifying and merit requirements depend on category |
| 3. Shortlisting | Army applies a cut-off based on vacancies and CEE result. Shortlisted roll numbers are published |
| 4. Phase II rally | Physical Fitness Test, Physical Measurement Test and document checks |
| 5. Medical examination | Army medical team examines candidates who reach the relevant stage |
| 6. Final merit | Final selection is based on the notified process, merit and available vacancies |
PIB reported in July that CEE-qualified candidates moved to the physical fitness, physical measurement, document-verification and medical stages according to their rally schedule.[3] That is why an “Agniveer result” does not mean final enrolment.
Agniveer physical test 2026: run, pull-ups, ditch and balance
The Agniveer physical test is a major part of Phase II. The 2026 notification lists a 1.6 km run, beam pull-ups, a 9-foot ditch and a zig-zag balance at the rally site. Run timings can be revised before a rally, so the current instructions on the official portal should be checked before reporting.[5]
| 1.6 km run | Marks | Pull-ups | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 5 min 30 sec | 60 | 10 | 40 |
| 5 min 31 sec–5 min 45 sec | 48 | 9 | 33 |
| 5 min 46 sec–6 min | 36 | 8 | 27 |
| 6 min 01 sec–6 min 15 sec | 24 | 7 | 21 |
| Not applicable | Not applicable | 6 | 16 |
The 9-foot ditch and zig-zag balance are qualifying events. The same notification notes that Agniveer Technical and Clerk/Store Keeper Technical candidates need to qualify the physical tests rather than compete for the same PFT marks used for GD/Tradesman merit.[5]
Agniveer salary, in-hand pay and Seva Nidhi
Agniveer pay follows a four-year structure, with the monthly package increasing each year. About 30% goes to the Agniveer Corpus Fund and the Government makes a matching contribution. The remaining 70% is shown as approximate in-hand pay in the current notification.[6]
| Year | Monthly package | Approx. in hand (70%) | Agniveer Corpus contribution (30%) | Government contribution |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | ₹30,000 | ₹21,000 | ₹9,000 | ₹9,000 |
| 2nd | ₹33,000 | ₹23,100 | ₹9,900 | ₹9,900 |
| 3rd | ₹36,500 | ₹25,550 | ₹10,950 | ₹10,950 |
| 4th | ₹40,000 | ₹28,000 | ₹12,000 | ₹12,000 |
The 2026 notification puts the candidate's four-year contribution at about ₹5.02 lakh and the matching Government contribution at about ₹5.02 lakh. It therefore shows roughly ₹10.04 lakh before interest as the absolute Seva Nidhi amount. The original Government scheme announcement described the exit package as approximately ₹11.71 lakh including accrued interest.[7] Risk and hardship allowance, dress allowance and travel allowance may also apply under Army rules.
Agniveers receive a non-contributory life-insurance cover of ₹48 lakh during the engagement period. The scheme does not provide the ordinary pension or gratuity entitlement associated with a regular long-term service career.[6]
What happens after four years?
Four years of Agniveer service does not by itself create a permanent Army appointment. The current notification allows eligible Agniveers to apply for regular enrolment after completing the engagement period. Up to 25% of a specific batch may enter the regular cadre, depending on organisational requirements, policy and objective selection criteria.[6]
There are also post-service opportunities outside the Army. In July 2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that a separate Ex-Agniveer category had been created for Constable (GD)/Rifleman recruitment in CAPFs and Assam Rifles, with 50% reservation of vacancies, three years' upper-age relaxation, five years for the first batch, and specified exemptions from PST, PET and written examination.[8] Candidates should still read the actual CAPF/Assam Rifles notification when those vacancies are advertised.
Documents commonly required at the Agniveer recruitment rally
The 2026 Army notice requires shortlisted candidates to bring original documents along with the prescribed photocopies. The exact list can vary by notification, but the core set includes the following.[9]
- Phase II admit card printed as instructed.
- Recent passport-size colour photographs in the quantity and format specified by the notice.
- Class 10, Class 12, ITI, diploma or other applicable education certificates and mark sheets.
- Domicile, nativity or permanent-residence certificate.
- Caste and religion certificates where applicable.
- Police character certificate and school/college character certificate.
- Unmarried certificate in the prescribed form where required.
- NCC, sports or relationship certificates if claiming bonus marks or relaxations.
- Aadhaar card. PAN and Aadhaar are required for final enrolment and pay-related processing.
Names, parents' names and date of birth should match the candidate's Class 10 and application records. Aadhaar is also used for identity and biometric authentication during the process.[9]
Next Agniveer recruitment: what should candidates do now?
Search interest is already shifting to the next Agniveer recruitment 2026, the Agniveer form date and the next Indian Army Agniveer vacancy 2026. As of 12 September 2026, the official sources checked for this article do not publish a fresh nationwide registration window. Any date circulating without an Army notice should be treated as unconfirmed.
The Join Indian Army official website should remain the primary source for a new application window. The Defence Jobs 2026 section and Latest Jobs page on India Job Notification can be used to track new notices after official dates, categories and eligibility rules are released.
A practical note before trusting an Agniveer update
Many Agniveer pages recycle old vacancy figures, age limits and extension claims. The recruiting year, ARO or region, date-of-birth window and official Join Indian Army link should be checked before relying on a post. Physical standards can differ by category and region, so a single height figure does not apply to every candidate. A CEE result is also different from a final selection list, and a rally call letter is not an enrolment letter.
