Bank of Baroda LBO Recruitment 2026 is accepting online applications for 2,482 Local Bank Officer posts in JMG Scale I. Registration and fee payment close on 7 September 2026.[1][3]
This is an experienced-officer recruitment, rather than a general fresher opening. Applicants need graduation and at least one year of qualifying officer experience in a scheduled commercial bank.[2]
The deadline covers registration, editing and payment
The dedicated portal closes registration, application editing and online fee payment on 7 September. Candidates can print a completed application until 22 September, but that facility does not extend submission.[3]

Twenty State choices shape the 2,482-post recruitment
The official vacancy table covers 20 States and separates new positions from unfilled vacancies carried from earlier LBO exercises. Bank of Baroda states the overall vacancy count as 2,482.[1][2]
Gujarat carries the largest listed allocation with 785 posts. Karnataka has 418, while Goa has 411. Smaller State totals remain equally tied to their own language and merit conditions.
| State | Notified local language | Published total |
|---|---|---|
| Gujarat | Gujarati | 785 |
| Karnataka | Kannada | 418 |
| Goa | Konkani | 411 |
| Maharashtra | Marathi | 218 |
| Tamil Nadu | Tamil | 132 |
| Odisha | Odia | 96 |
| Andhra Pradesh | Telugu | 80 |
| Telangana | Telugu | 50 |

Candidates can apply for one State only. The bank prepares State-wise and category-wise merit lists, so an examination centre does not change the State selected in the form.[2]
Graduation alone does not complete eligibility
A recognised graduation degree in any discipline is mandatory. The advertisement also prefers selected insurance and securities certifications, but it identifies them separately from the basic degree requirement.[2]
The decisive condition is one year of post-qualification experience as an officer in a scheduled commercial bank listed in the Reserve Bank of India's Second Schedule.
Clerical service does not count toward this experience. Applicants must later produce an employer-certified experience certificate and job profile that substantially matches a Scale I officer's work.[2]
Age on the 1 August cut-off date
The normal age range is 21 to 30 years on 1 August 2026. SC and ST applicants receive five years of upper-age relaxation, while OBC non-creamy-layer applicants receive three years.
The notice gives category-linked relaxation for eligible PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates. Applicants should use the detailed table because the permitted years change with the parent category.[2]
Your State choice sets the language test
Applicants must read, write, speak and understand the notified local language for their chosen State. The language requirement therefore belongs in the eligibility decision before fee payment.
Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland accept English under a narrower condition. The candidate must have studied and passed English at a school located within the corresponding State.[2]
Selected officers normally remain within the chosen State for their first 12 service years, or until promotion to SMGS IV, whichever happens earlier.
Four timed sections lead toward the interview
The selection process can include an online test, psychometric assessment and interview. Bank of Baroda reserves the stated right to modify the shortlisting method when recruitment requirements change.[2]
| Online test section | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| English Language | 30 | 30 | 30 minutes |
| Banking Knowledge | 30 | 30 | 30 minutes |
| General or Economic Awareness | 30 | 30 | 30 minutes |
| Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude | 30 | 30 | 30 minutes |
| Total | 120 | 120 | 120 minutes |
English is qualifying in nature, and its marks do not enter the final merit list. Every wrong answer loses one quarter of that question's assigned marks.[2]
The bank has not announced the online-test date in this advertisement. Candidates should follow the current opportunities page for the call letter and any later schedule.
Scale I pay comes with probation and a service bond
The notified basic-pay scale runs from ₹48,480 to ₹85,920 through scheduled increments. A selected candidate with at least one year of eligible officer experience receives one advance increment.[2]
Allowances and benefits follow applicable banking-sector settlements and bank policies. The selected officer serves 12 months of active probation after joining.
The current service bond requires three years of service. Leaving earlier can require three months of gross salary, capped at ₹2 lakh, under the stated policy.[2]
Application fee by category
General, EWS and OBC candidates pay ₹850 plus payment-gateway charges. SC, ST, PwBD, ESM, DESM and women candidates pay ₹175 plus gateway charges.
The paid application fee is non-refundable. A candidate should verify the State, category, language, experience documents and uploaded files before completing payment.[2]

Questions experienced bank officers are checking
Can a graduate fresher apply for Bank of Baroda LBO?
No graduate fresher meets the stated experience rule. Applicants need at least one year of post-qualification officer experience in a scheduled commercial bank as on 1 August 2026.
Does clerical banking experience count?
The advertisement explicitly excludes clerical-cadre experience from the eligibility calculation. The applicant needs qualifying officer work and must provide an employer-certified experience certificate with a matching job profile.
Can one candidate apply for two States?
No candidate should apply for two States. Candidature, local-language eligibility, State-wise merit and the initial posting condition all follow the single State selected in the completed form.
What is the final date for the LBO application?
Registration, editing and online fee payment close on 7 September 2026. Application printing continues until 22 September, but printing does not reopen or extend registration.
Is there negative marking in the online test?
The online test uses negative marking. Each wrong answer loses 0.25 of that question's assigned marks. A blank answer receives no penalty under the tentative online-test structure.
What is the starting basic pay?
The JMG Scale I basic pay begins at ₹48,480. The advertisement grants one advance increment to selected candidates with at least one year of qualifying officer experience.
Check experience before choosing the State
The 2,482 vacancies create a large opportunity, but the degree is only one eligibility layer. Officer experience, age, language and State choice decide whether the form fits.
Read the advertisement, prepare employer-certified evidence and submit one complete application by 7 September. Keep the receipt and acknowledgement number for later selection stages.
