Total 34 Seven advertised posts

Every post is described as permanent, while the Civil and Electronics engineering roles support lighthouses and marine navigation along India’s coast and island territories.

Research Officers join the National Atlas and Thematic Mapping Organisation in Kolkata. Their work includes thematic maps, field surveys, remote sensing, geospatial tools, and web services.

Match your degree and experience first

These are specialist posts, so a related degree alone may not be enough because several positions require two or five years of relevant work.[1]

Civil, electronics, and port engineering

The Civil AEE route requires a recognised Civil Engineering degree and two years of supervisory experience covering structural or reinforced concrete design, maintenance, and construction.

Electronics AEE applicants need an eligible telecommunications, electronics, or communications engineering degree, plus two years of supervisory experience involving radio aids to navigation.

The Assistant Director route accepts Civil or Mechanical Engineering graduates. Applicants need two years in specified civil, harbour, crane, marine, or workshop engineering work.

Law, Hindi, and government translation

Superintendent Translation has separate Master of Laws and Bachelor of Laws pathways, each combining legal experience with Hindi-medium study or Hindi as an examination subject.

The advertisement lists judicial service, legal affairs, legal practice, teaching, statutory translation, and legislative drafting as relevant routes. Read the detailed clauses before treating your experience as eligible.

Maps, horticulture, and soil conservation

Research Officer applicants need an eligible geoscience or geospatial master’s degree, while geography or geology must also appear throughout the bachelor’s course.

That post also requires five years of geographical or cartographical teaching or research, including experience with data collection and thematic map preparation.

Horticulture Development Officer accepts a bachelor’s degree in Horticulture Science or Agriculture Science. All four vacancies are reserved for eligible ST candidates domiciled in Ladakh.

Soil Conservation Assistant accepts specified agriculture, horticulture, soil science, or agricultural engineering qualifications. Its seven vacancies are also reserved for eligible ST candidates domiciled in Ladakh.

Do not mix the two deadlines

Application group Closing date and time Posts covered
Non-Ladakh posts 28 August 2026 at 6:00 PM AEE Civil, AEE Electronics, Assistant Director, Superintendent Translation, Research Officer
Ladakh posts 4 September 2026 at 6:00 PM Horticulture Development Officer and Soil Conservation Assistant

UPSC uses the relevant closing date to determine eligibility. Age, qualification, experience, category, and domicile claims must therefore be valid on that date.

The two Ladakh posts require a valid domicile certificate under the applicable rules, so applicants outside the eligible groups should not apply for those vacancies.

Move through the UPSC ORA modules carefully

The live UPSC recruitment portal provides account creation, Universal Registration, a Common Application Form, and a recruitment area.[3] Use the official portal rather than a third-party form.

  1. Open the official UPSC ORA portal and create an account, unless you already have one.
  2. Complete or review the Universal Registration profile and keep the generated URN safely.
  3. Fill the Common Application Form with your identity, education, category, and contact details.
  4. Choose the exact post using its vacancy number from Advertisement 10/2026.
  5. Upload the live photograph, stored photograph, three signatures, and supporting PDF documents as instructed.
  6. Review every entry before submission because UPSC does not permit later changes to a submitted application.
  7. Pay the fee when applicable, submit the form, and save the post-specific application number.
  8. Download the final application and retain a readable copy for the interview stage.

UPSC recommends Aadhaar for simpler identity verification, but applicants should still follow current portal instructions and use clear scans during a stable browser session.

Prepare evidence for every claim

UPSC asks applicants to upload supporting documents separately against the claims entered in the form. The notice lists age, qualifications, experience, category, disability, and relaxation evidence.[1]

  • Class 10 certificate or marksheet showing the accepted date of birth
  • Degree certificates and marksheets for every claimed essential qualification
  • Proper experience certificates showing dates, pay, duties, and issuing authority
  • Category, PwBD, age-relaxation, or domicile documents when those claims apply
  • Name-change evidence when current records differ from educational documents
  • Clear photograph and signature files meeting the portal specifications

A résumé, appointment letter, payslip, or unsigned note does not replace the required experience certificate, so check the prescribed format before uploading employment evidence.

Fee, shortlisting, and interview position

The application fee is ₹25 for candidates who are not exempt. UPSC exempts women, SC, ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities from this fee.[1]

Possessing the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview because UPSC may shortlist through higher qualifications, longer relevant experience, desirable criteria, or a recruitment test.

The Commission will announce interview details separately, and shortlisted candidates must bring the printed online application with the required original documents when instructed.

Current applicants can also compare the ISRO URSC apprentice notification. That opportunity serves recent engineering graduates, while these UPSC posts mostly require specialist experience.

The UPSC recruitment page lists Advertisement 10/2026 as the current recruitment advertisement.[2] Check that page again for any correction before paying or submitting.

Use the PDF for eligibility and the ORA portal for action because a search result, social post, or coaching page cannot replace either official source.

Can one person apply for multiple posts?

Yes, an eligible candidate can apply for more than one vacancy. Each post needs its own post-specific application and application number.

Is every vacancy open across India?

No. The Horticulture Development Officer and Soil Conservation Assistant vacancies carry Ladakh domicile conditions. The remaining posts follow their stated category and suitability rules.

What if the ORA page fails?

Refresh once, confirm your connection, and try a current browser without extensions, then return later if the portal is busy without waiting until closing time.

Which number should applicants save?

Keep both the Universal Registration Number and each post-specific application number. Also save the final submitted application and payment confirmation when a fee applies.

Advertisement 10/2026 offers several distinct Central Government career routes. Match the vacancy number, qualification, experience, reservation, and deadline before opening the final post module.
